Helen asks…
how do i find the right strings for my electric guitar?
When I’m looking for electric guitar strings online, there is always a list of Gauge numbers (i.e. Gauges 10-13-17-26-36-46). What do they mean, and how do I choose the right one for my guitar? And how do I even check what types of strings my guitar is compatible with?
admin answers:
It’s mostly on how you like the feel. And your style.
My favorite is earnie ball’s super slinky. They’re relatively narrow gauge but they’re very easy to bend (on the highs). Maybe wait until you get challises before you go to such a narrow gauge. And talk to the guys in the music store where you buy the strings. They’ll be glad to throw in their two cents.
Also, if you’re allergic to nickel, they have special non-nickel-plated strings… Just so you know.

Ruth asks…
Can you put acoustic-electric guitar strings on an acoustic guitar?
Can you? I’m kinda confused on that, I love the sound of them too but I have an acoustic, can I put acoustic-electric strings on it?
admin answers:
An “acoustic-electric” guitar is just a normal acoustic guitar with a pickup in it. There’s nothing special about it.
There is no such thing as “acoustic-electric guitar strings”. It’s an acoustic guitar; it uses acoustic guitar strings.

Sandy asks…
is it okay to use electric guitar strings on my acoustic guitar?
a freind recommended exiler nanoweb strings but i couldn’t find it for acoustic guitars.is it ok to use the electric ones?i have an epiphone hummungbird which i love and i’d hate to damage it.
admin answers:
It’s ok, and won’t damage it, but I wouldn’t recommend it… Different tensions can bend the neck. Get some Martins that are made for acoustic and you’ll have a much better playing experience, and sound.

Ken asks…
Electric Guitar strings, I have no idea where to start.?
My manufacture strings on my, first, electric guitar broke. I have the $200 starter kit from Fender. I’m looking for a nickel-plated and flat-wound light guitar strings for playing blues, jazz, and heavy metal but with the lack of direction on Amazon, Guitar World and Musician Friend, I’m at a lost. Can someone help out by picking a guitar string?
admin answers:
You’re a beginner, you’re playing a (blunty honest here) not so great guitar, so i would strongly suggest the long lasting elixirs, sure they cost more, but they WILL last u longer. Thats if you dont abuse them, like have your dog gnaw them or something. Plus you won’t be breaking strings that often since you are a beginner, why go for strings like erinies when they break after 2 nights? (depends on how you play and how sweaty you are too).

Daniel asks…
will it sound bad if you put electric guitar strings on an acoustic?
my acoustic needs new strings but all i have is electric guitar strings
admin answers:
You need to get acoustic strings. Luckily, they’re sold in music stores and on the internet. I recommend Elixir Nanoweb strings. I use light gauge.
