Your Questions About Electric Guitar Parts

Steven asks…

I’m making a guitar out of old electric guitar parts, and I need tips?

Right now what I have…

An old Lotus Strat, which I need to sand all of the paint off the body untill it is just wood, I am about 2 percent there. I have the neck, all of the original electronics, and the pickguards, and it is completely dismantled.

What I want to acheive…

1. Is to take ALL of the paint off of the body, so it is just a wood body.

2. To take the logo off of the headstock somehow, (the guitar neck is just wood).

3. To update the electronics (All the wires, the pickups, the input jack, everything) to achieve a good quality sound, for a really good clean almost jazzy sound.

4. ( Not required ) To give the guitar body some color, by staining the wood. ( I was thinking of staining the wood a blood red with black swirls )

My question is…

How do I go about doing all of this, getting the best quality I possibly can, and spending the least amount of money possible? Also, what is time frame frame I am looking at here? Any input is appreciated!

What you want to do is possible, It will be a “labor of love” Depending on how it goes it could take from a month or so to over a year, depending on how much time you put into it and if you could get all the parts you need

David asks…

can you use a electric guitar to play bass parts?

i only have electric an acustic guitar but i was wondering if you can use them to play bass can you will it be the same what is the diffrence?

admin answers:

The first four strings on a guitar are tuned the same as those on a bass, the notes are just a few octaves up. You could potentially play bass parts but they wouldnt be as low, unless you got an octivizer pedal.
