Sandy asks…
advice for playing pinch harmnonics?
hi
ive been playing guitar a bass for a couple of years and this is the only thing ive never been able to do. Strumming and/or left hand speed isn’t a problem for me. I’ve spent nearly 2 hours practicing all different techniques and have switched between my single coil guitar and my humbuckers semi-acoustic guitar. i have been using my 15 watt guitar amp with heavy distortion but i also have a 150W bass amp and various effect pedals at my disposal if necessary. i say this because i’ve seen in forums that equipment makes a difference.
I’ve read loads of articles explaining how to do pinch harmonics and watched plenty of videos on the subject.
i could get guitar lessons but it seems pointless since i successfully taught myself everything else. i know that this is something that you can either do pretty much straight away or something you will struggle with. hopefully somebody who used to struggle with this will see this question and tell me how they got over it. thanks for taking the time to read this and thanks for the help,

Lizzie asks…
What is this song!? (Appeared in CSI Episode ‘Turn Turn Turn’)?
It appears in the part of that episode where Hayley’s birth mother just overdosed and it’s raining and stuff.
It’s very difficult to here the words in it but I tried to get them as best I could.
I tried typing them into google but nothing came up.
It is a man singing, and theres acoustic guitar and piano.
It’s got a lot of pauses (I’ll put … for the pauses) and the words are something like this:
Come…see.. the rumble in freaks?…
They….show…..
Where….are..put this behind…
I…dont know……
Come….see.. the lovely machine….
Break…down……
Criss…cross… walking around…
Dont you know….
So yeah, it’s something like that/
Alot of people are trying to find out what it is in forums and stuff but there doesnt seem to be any success.
So if you know the song you will be relieving alot of people haha.
Thanks!

Have also be frustrated trying to find this song. I went so far as to email CSI and I received a email asking me to send a letter snail mail!
I have looked on all the websites I can think of and this is the latest -
Freeze (feat. Chris Brown) : T-Pain
kriss kross : Guillemots
Taylor Swift : You’re not Sorry (CSI MIX)
Touch : Kia Shine
Underwater Echo – CSI Crime Lab : Vic Sorisio Music Production Soundtracks
They were trying to say it is “Kriss Kross”, but it seems too slow.
Sorry I can’t be of more help. I am still trying.

Nancy asks…
Should I learn drums as well ?
I know a pretty decent amount of guitar , about intermediate , and still learning , but looking into either an electric guitar or learning drums too ,
I have an electric / acoustic , but I play more so metal , screamo , etc .
I’m trying to decide between a Dean Electric Guitar , or a starter drum kit , both around $ 350 .
If you think drums , please suggest a decent brand , as I know little about the different drum brands .
Also suggest another guitar brand that’s good for the price , please ,

Drums and guitar are simple to learn (I’m not saying there simple instruments). I would (and I strongly suggest this) to learn a harder instrument that requires you to know Music Theory. Music Theory is going to help you in the long run and any great musician knows it (saying that just in case you don’t know music theory
) Instruments that I suggest you learn is any instrument in a band (like a school band, you know with a trumpet and stuff?). Or any orchestral instruments (AKA Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, etc.) Or if your really hooked with drums, depending on your age group, join a band and learn percussion. Percussion includes, Marimba, Bass Drum, Snare, And the funnest instrument in the world… THE TRIANGLE! (P.S. There are a lot more instruments in the percussion section.)
